Affordable and Clean EnergySustainable Cities And CommunitiesClimate Action

Low energy efficiency of buildings in Ukraine leads to high energy consumption. Management of residential buildings is the responsibility of its co-owners, who lack self-organization and governance mechanisms. As a result, the integrity of residential buildings deteriorates, while energy bills rise. Many people cannot afford it.

Switzerland supports co-owners of residential buildings who come together to hire house management companies and to invest in energy efficiency.

Do you see these modern and freshly painted facades: they induce up to 50% savings in energy resources during the cold season - if compared with these neighbouring non-renovated buildings. Proper insulation also allows for significant cuts on the residents’ heating bills. You know that gas tariffs have increased twofold over the past few years. Hence it is extremely important to reduce costs. Our project aims at improving the energy efficiency of residential buildings. Within this framework, we also upgrade the water supply systems with new pipes, gaskets and valves. It prevents further wasting of water.

We started with two pilot buildings. Soon, the whole street will be part of the project!

The project covers 70% of the costs thanks to the participation of our partners and the city authorities. Associations of flat owners only have to contribute with the remaining 30%. It is entirely up to them to decide whether to start renovations. It is a unique opportunity for them to take charge of their own building, to rationalise their expenses and to improve their families’ living conditions. Renovated apartments become fortresses of warmth and comfort. The real estate value increases. It allows residents to look many years ahead. The overall enthusiasm is genuine. We started with two pilot buildings. Soon, the whole street will be part of the project!

#StandWithUkraine

Since 24th February 2022 In our community there are more than 4,000 temporarily displaced people who came to us from occupied territories and areas under attack. Many people have lost their loved ones. We make a lot of efforts to provide them with comfortable living conditions: we prepared housing for them, we provided food, we organised their everyday life, and medical care. There are a lot of things to do. In addition, we help the military with food and accommodation. We set up laundry for the military, and more. Also, the work of public services needs to adjust to war time. Some houses were damaged during bombings. They need to be repaired. Now we prepare fast for the upcoming heating season. Work is under way to upgrade the thermo-isolation of two more buildings as well as insulating a building facade. We work for the VICTORY and we believe that it will be soon!
